Promposals.
Promposals. Where do I begin? I promise to you that I'm not a cynic, nor am I a pessimist. I sympathize, I empathize, and now that I'm in university, I've realized that promposals are actually really unnecessary. I will be the first to admit that I never had a promposal, but the majority of my highschool class didn't either. Let's just think about it for a second. A guy spends so much time, maybe even massive amounts of money to "prompose" to a girl, when all he really had to do was just ask.
I do love the romantic idea of prom, but is it really necessary to go "all-out" for one night, that already includes an overpriced ticket and overpriced expenses (ex. dress, tux, corsage, some people go get their makeup done, shoes, possible limo, etc.)? And what about the guys who aren't creative? What about the guys who just want to go to prom with that one girl that they saved up all their courage to ask? What are they going to do when all of a sudden boys are popping out of nowhere asking girls to go to prom in this excessive fashion? I'll tell you what they're going to do. With their lack of creativity, they'll save any sense of pride they have and go home instead of asking the girl. There are already dates set for these kind of proposals: Going steady or asking for a girl's hand in marriage. Once your dating the person, there's already a tonne of dates that a girl will be headed for including all sorts of romantic presentations.
Since when did it become so important for girls to expect so much of guys?
