Dream Record: Adventure to the Lost World
My dream was so vivid last night.
I dreamed that I was with a group of girls and my friend Jan (a guy) and we were discussing an inconsequential, girly topic. I remember feeling uncomfortable, as if I was getting individually targeted by these girls and purposely being left out. So, I decided, since I had heard previously that my chinese friend Justin had personally went out to find this Lost World (a world that looked Tim Burton-esque), I would go out and find it myself. I no longer needed to be in the presence of ditz-central. As I walked away, my friend Jan grabbed my arm and insisted that he come with me. He seemed to have some information about this journey. In need of company, I accepted his offer, and so, we went on his computer (which was attached to a wall in this museum-like setting), and started looking through pictures which would give us information about our journey. Many embarassing photos came up, so we decided not to scroll through them and instead go the path Justin went.
As I approached the beginning of the path I last saw Justin leaving from, I saw Justin come running from deeper in. Covered in goop, he begged us not to go that way because it was way too dangerous, but if it was ultimately the goal we wanted, we could go since it was the quickest way to get there. Well, obviously, death was not exactly what we planned out, so we left to search for an alternate route.
This is where, suddenly, Jan disappeared and my boyfriend (IJ) became my new adventure companion. A big lake was in the distance and somehow, we knew that if we were to cross the lake and go around the bend to the right, we would get to the Lost World. We rented a blow up, motor-powered boat, meant for 2-3 people and sped away. On our way, we noticed, as we squinted our eyes, that 4 of our friends far ahead had decided to take this journey as well: Sam & Teejay, and Janet & Gin. The two couples had both boarded blow up boats as well, but instead of being motor-powered, they were rowing! Less effectively, they had reached the bend and were slowly moving along to the right. IJ & I decided that if they were to get stuck, we would let them hitch a ride on our motor blow-up boat. It occurred to me though, that if we ran out of fuel, they would be the ones saving us. Conveniently, their boats could seat 4-5 people.
We continued to speed across the lake and rounded the bend after what seemed to be a long time. As we rounded the bend, we saw a bamboo-like hotel with balconies to our right that looked extremely dirty, yet some rich folk seemed to have rented rooms there. It seemed that it was not just the youth looking for this Lost World. To our left, we saw Teejay and Gin sitting by the river bend, kicking stones in, looking glum. They sadly told us that the girls were still looking for clues to find the Lost World, but the two had given up hope since it seemed that this was more of a native island than an entrance into the Lost World. So, we offered to the two to board our boat and we could go further down the river to see what was ahead. Teejay agreed and hopped on to our boat.
As we flowed down the river, we slipped under a mountain like crevice that was so small that sunlight from the entrance and exit was enough to light the path underneath the mountain. Suddenly, Teejay jumped out of the boat. Wondering why in the heck he would do that, we looked to our side and lo and behold was an entrance with stairs up into what looked like the mountain. We stopped the motor boat and IJ stayed to turn the boat around just in case we needed it. I crept up the passage and into what looked like another bamboo hut on top of this rock. It looked a little creepy and abandoned, with animal skin and little cabinets of bamboo. Suddenly, we heard music playing. It striked me as music that Janet would enjoy. As we wandered to find the source, we noticed that we weren't the only ones in the house. A couple of people had also found this bamboo hut and were also looking for the source of the music. It seemed to be playing from a record player.
Teejay found it first. It was coming from a record player on top of some old records inside a bamboo cage. Teejay tried to find the lever behind to open this cage (because for whatever reason, we needed to touch the record player?). All of a sudden, someone yelled from behind, "Someone's here!!!" In fear, we all scrambled to get out. A handful of people left the way we entered, but I didn't know what to be scared of until I saw a silhouette of something coming. It was a shadow, and I don't really remember the shape, but I remember yelling in fear for Teejay to come with me, and we ran back to the motor boat, speeding away.
Teejay & I were so terrified of this being, that we insisted that all our friends abandon this trip and go back home. The last thing I remember before waking up is seeing IJ & I's back as we sped the motor blow-up boat away from the river bend and back home.

For some reason I keep picturing that this whole journey begins at the 'new' bridge from your school. So funny about having to the touch the record player. I wonder what the music actually sounded like?

It sounded jazzy... Billie Holiday sounding. I should've added that come to think of it.
